These terms cover reelpile, the macOS application, and reelpile.com. The software is made and sold by Azyumba LLC, a California limited liability company. Buying reelpile, or using it, means these terms apply. If you disagree with them, ask for a refund and stop using the app.
What you are buying
A licence to use reelpile, not ownership of the software itself. One payment of $30 covers every future update of reelpile for macOS. There is no subscription, no renewal and nothing that expires.
You may install and use it on any Mac you own or control, for your own work or your business, including work you are paid for.
You may not resell or redistribute the application itself, present it as your own product, or strip out the notices and credits that ship with it.
There is no activation and no licence key. That is a deliberate choice, and it runs on trust rather than on enforcement.
What you make with it stays yours
Your boards, your notes, the clips you gather and anything you publish are yours. We claim no rights over them, and we cannot reach them: they sit on your own disk.
What you are responsible for
reelpile is a tool that fetches material you point it at. What you gather, and what you then do with it, is your responsibility. You are the one who has to respect the terms of the site you are pulling from, and the copyright of whoever made the video.
Nothing in the app grants you any right to material that belongs to somebody else. A reference board for your own work is a very different thing from republishing another person's footage, and the difference is yours to keep track of.
Open-source components
reelpile bundles ffmpeg and gallery-dl, which are licensed under the GPL, along with yt-dlp and shazamio. Anyone holding a copy of reelpile is entitled to the corresponding source of the GPL components. Write to [email protected] and it will be sent.
What is not promised
The app is provided as is. We do not promise it is free of faults, nor that it will suit a particular purpose of yours.
One limit deserves naming plainly, because it is the one most likely to bite. reelpile imports video through tools that depend on other companies' websites. When those sites change, imports can break, sometimes for days, sometimes for a particular platform, and occasionally for good. We fix what can be fixed and ship it as a free update. We cannot guarantee that any given platform will keep working, and no part of the price is a promise that it will.
Sending a board to a client depends on a hosted service. It is intended to keep running, but it is not guaranteed to run forever, and it is not a backup of your work.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for anything connected with reelpile is limited to what you paid for it.
Ending it
You can stop using reelpile at any time. If we ever had to end your licence, it would be for redistributing the software or something of that order, and we would refund you.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. This does not take away consumer rights you hold where you live that cannot be signed away.
Changes
If these terms change, the date below changes with it, and the change will be described here. A change never applies backwards to a purchase already made.
