reelpile is made by Azyumba LLC, a California limited liability company. Questions about anything on this page go to [email protected].
The short version: reelpile has no account, no sign-up and no telemetry. Your library lives on your Mac. We do not receive it, and there is no server of ours holding it.
This website
No cookies. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no visitor counter, no advertising network. Nothing on reelpile.com follows you.
Three third parties are unavoidably involved when you load a page:
- Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host it processes the request, which includes your IP address, and keeps short-lived operational logs.
- Google Fonts serves the typeface. Your browser fetches it from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and the usual request headers.
- Web3Forms delivers the report form on the support page to our mailbox, if you use that form. It receives what you typed and the email address you gave, and nothing else. At the time of writing the form is not switched on and the page shows a plain mail address instead.
The application
No account, no sign-up, no licence key, no trial. The app is fully functional from first launch and never asks who you are.
There is no telemetry of any kind. No analytics, no usage statistics, no crash reporting. We do not know how many boards you have, what you paste, or whether you opened the app today.
Your library stays on your Mac. Boards, cards, notes, positions and the video files themselves live in a folder on your disk, and Settings shows you the path under Data. The database is a plain JSON file you can read yourself.
What the app connects to, and why
- The platform you paste from (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, or a direct file link). The download runs from your machine, so that platform sees your request exactly as it would if you had opened the post in a browser.
- Shazam, for the music on a clip. A short audio fingerprint of the clip is sent for matching. No account and no API key are involved.
- The update feed, to ask whether a newer version of reelpile exists.
- Instagram sign-in, only if you choose it. The sign-in happens in a window from Instagram itself. The resulting cookie is written to your own disk with owner-only permissions and is never transmitted to us. It is included in a full backup, which is why a full backup is worth keeping private.
Cloud sync does not exist in shipped builds. Every sync endpoint answers "disabled", and there is nothing in the interface to reach.
Publishing a board
Nothing leaves your machine unless you publish a board yourself. When you do, a read-only copy is placed on Cloudflare so the person you send the link to can open it in a browser.
What is uploaded: the board's name and emoji; and for each card an id, its position and size, the poster image, the author, the caption, views, likes, duration, the track and artist, an embed URL, a link to the original, a platform label and two status flags. Text notes travel too, with their position, size and colour.
What is never uploaded: your video files, ever. Audio, ever. The full original URL, only a stripped version of it. Any path on your disk. The filename of anything you uploaded yourself. Comments, dates, board ids, error text and drawings.
Two things worth knowing about the link itself. It is unguessable but not password-protected, so anyone you forward it to can open it. And the hearts a viewer leaves are stored with that board, so a second person opening the same link overwrites the first person's picks. Unpublish stops the link working.
Buying
Azyumba LLC is the seller, and payment is taken through Stripe. Stripe processes the card and holds the details that requires. We never see or store your card number. What reaches us is the purchase itself, the email address you give at checkout so a receipt and any answer can reach you, and the billing country Stripe needs in order to work out tax. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what they do on their side.
We use that email to send your receipt and to answer you. It is not added to a mailing list.
Children
reelpile is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect anything from them, which is made easier by the fact that we do not knowingly collect anything from anybody.
Your rights, and what there is to exercise them on
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In our case the honest answer is that we hold almost nothing: there is no account, no profile and no usage record. What may exist is an email you sent us, and the record of your purchase held by us and by Stripe.
Write to [email protected] and a person will answer.
